There are multiple businesses that are now supporting Bitcoin currency

to buy and sell products and services.

Multiple investment banks now offer Bitcoin futures as well as trade

Bitcoin. There are hundreds of exchanges and platforms that offer buy and

sell of Bitcoin cryptocurrencies. Some famous ones are listed in Table 2.5:

Ethereum

Ethereum is a community-run blockchain technology with unique features

like its own cryptocurrency (ETH), smart contract, open-source and a plat-

form to build dApps. After Bitcoin, Ethereum is the largest cryptocurrency

as per the market capitalisation.

Ethereum was first proposed in 2013 by a programmer named Vitalik

Buterin. In 2014, money was raised through crowdfunding and then the

Ethereum platform network went live in July 2015.

Currently, a major upgrade is in progress to launch Ethereum 2.0.

Ethereum 2.0 will provide better transaction throughput using sharding

and use the proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
